My Body Belongs to Me

Two-Book Bundle for Caregivers and Young Children

This two-book bundle gives parents and caregivers tools to begin conversations with their young children about body safety, personal boundaries, respect and consent.

“My Body Belongs to Me”: A Parent’s Guide outlines guidelines for talking with your child, including example scripts for conversation and guidance for addressing difficult topics. “My Body Belongs to Me,” a selected children’s book as a companion to the parent’s guide, uses rhyme and illustration to convey the message that children have the right to be safe from unwanted touch. These two books were selected by community partners at Bay Area Hospital’s Kids’ HOPE Center in Coos Bay.

I couldn’t wait for this book to arrive so I checked it out at the local library. So excited to add it to my lending library now. The scripts and songs were great to help with navigating the delicate subject nature. Great for kids 3+

I highly recommend this bundle to any parent or guardian. As uncomfortable as talking to our children can be, this makes it easier and much more helpful in navigating those situations we may be faced with. The children’s version is simple, straightforward, and to the point which I appreciate. The parents guide has tips and suggestions on how to navigate those conversations we may not yet be prepared for. Highly recommended.

Excellent book for teaching kids about body autonomy, consent, and disclosing abuse to safe adults. The accompanying caregiver guide is nicely organized, comprehensive, and written by a sexual health professional.

The book has been a helpful conversation starter with our 3 year old. It has given her language to talk about body safety and ask questions/talk though scenarios – crucial tools in preventing child abuse.

I really liked there was a children’s version and adult book. The book is a useful book to have on a child’s shelf so that a child can begin to understand how to stay safe.

I was so excited when the book bundle arrived so I could share the story with my kids in their first language (spanish), ever since we read “My body belongs to me” my three year old always says my body is mine and no one else should touch my private parts. This book was clear, concise and great for any age.

Ok, I love this parent’s guide! It is very informative but the children’s book was something I was not prepared for. I was not too fond of it but could see how it could be useful for someone in the right line of work. I wish it would have been more kid friendly in general.

This duo of books is a great resource for parents to reach out to their younger age kids to really teach them the basics of body boundaries, an avenue to talk about difficult situations and about safe adults. I am so excited to add this to my lending library.

This book gives great information for young children in an easy to understand language that can help keep them safe. I recommend this book and the other accompanying media for all preschool teachers and parents with young children.

The parent guide has some great tips that are useful for everyone. I would encourage parents to share with other adults in the lives of their children.
Not a fan of the children’s book. It’s too specific

We read this out loud at during our parenting class and all of the teen parents thought it was a great book. This really gives the child tools if they are ever in the situation.

    Good book

This was an incredibly powerful book. I hate to say this, but I hate that this book even exists. We are new parents to a little girl and will definitely be sharing this book’s conversation points with her as soon as possible. Would recommend.

  32. waldo (verified owner)

    good book

  33. chelseawolff (verified owner)

This book is a great tool for our kiddos to talk about body safety. Love the parent guide too as it can feel intimidating to find the right words to say.

  34. Rebecca Onsgaard (verified owner)

Good awareness but not exactly what I imagined. I didn’t realize it was about a kid who was inappropriately touched by a family friend. I thought it would be more about letting kids know their body is only theirs.

    Such a valuable resource!

  36. carlyt (verified owner)

Very important books to have on hand!

  37. Mary Sehrer (verified owner)

I actually got this set for my daughter-in-law and granddaughter. My daughter-in-law had been looking for a book with this subject matter and this book turned out perfect to approach the subject with my granddaughter. She was 4. With the rhymes and songs it wasn’t scary at all. Which is what I was afraid of. It helped start a dialog that is re-addressed every few weeks. I’m glad that I found it here a got it for them.

  38. Jamie (verified owner)

I liked how there was a child version and adult version the child version was probably geared for little bit younger then my 9 year old daughter but we still enjoyed it and I think it’s a good eye opener:)

  39. ashleyjohnsonbend (verified owner)

    Valuable resource!

  40. Johnny (verified owner)

This book helps bring up a very important topic. I wish my parents would have had this when I was a kid.

  41. Jay Thompson (verified owner)

Enjoyed the book even though my little one is too little for the accompanying kids book. It gave me a good place to start introducing broad abstract ideas such as privacy and respect. I think we will revisit the kids book when they are older.

  42. Celiarn (verified owner)

Great bundle! The parent book has great information to navigate this topic.

  43. readingrainbow (verified owner)

Wonderful guide for parents. The age appropriate picture book helps make consent an easier topic to discuss with your child

  44. Cece Martin (verified owner)

This book was very easy to read and so informative! The child portion was easy for my children to understand, and sparked a long conversation about consent. Would highly recommend!

This is a great way to open up an essential conversation every parent needs to have with their kids.

  49. Kristen Drechsler (verified owner)

This is an interesting read so far. The children’s book is a bit advanced for my 2 year old, but it gave me some ideas on how to approach the subject with him as he gets older.
